All Hearts are dead except those with knowledge... All those with knowledge are asleep except those who perform good actions... All those who perform good actions are deceived except those with sincerity... And all those with sincerity are in a constant state of anxiety... [Imam Shafi'i]

Oprah

Salams all,

Those of u @ home on stuvac or for any othe reason, have u been watching Oprah lately? Yesterdays episode was so upsetting - it was about sexual abuse of children. I went all teary watching it. Did u no that 1 out of 4 kids in the US have reported being abused sexually by some1 they know. But there are many who are too afraid to report such crimes.

One lady, after finding out her boyfriend was sexually molesting her 3 year old daughter, shot her boy friend straight off. Personally I think she did the rite thing, the prison system doesn't keep em in prison for long enuff! And these men are so twisted and sik - they deserve to die!

Another lady was married to a serious sex offender for 8 years without knowing that he was on the run from police. She then found out that he'd been sexually abusing children and videotaping em and putting em online 4 sale. And the worst thing, one of the children in the video was her 8 year old daughter! Can u imagine!

These sik twisted people shud be punished more severely! And the children that are abused in such a manner will be scarred for the rest of their lives. No amount of counselling can change wat they went thru. It's so sad that people cud stoop even lower than animals!

Ya, I know for a fact that this stuff happens so much more in BD and other 3rd World countries except ppl r too afraid and weak to speak out about it.

There was this 1 case on the news (only coz victim was murdered, i think) of a girl raped by her own mama (plz dont be traumatized ppl). The girl was killed.

And wat sickened me even more was that this 'Islamic' (i use that term loosely here - but she was wearing hijab) woman was having an affair with the bro-in-law and when her kids came in and caughte her, this lady and her bro-in-law murdered the tiny children.

What kind of world are we living in? May Allah guide us all. Ameen.

I know the world is bad in a lot of ways, but i dont wanna c it with the eyes of skepticism. Im aware of its negativities (man, that word reminds me of Sufia, lol), but i want to see things in a positive light. Of course in cases like the cases we're talking about its hard to see positive stuff in it. But whatever happens happens for a reason, rite? And perhaps some ppl mite come out of such experiences as a better and stronger person. Allahu Alim. So I try not to be so cynical of every situation.

You lot just want me to resort to tears... no, but I do agree- there are very unlucky, sad-cases out there...studying schizophrenia and abnormal psychology has helped to truly appreciate what an enourmous blessing it is that we were all given relatively "normal" functioning of our brains...alhamdulillah!

"...count your blessing, not you mishaps..."---anyone know where that's from?
